Rick Gray was a Pushcart Prize nominee in 2014, and received the Veteran’s Scholarship from the Squaw Valley Poetry Workshop. He served in the Peace Corps in Kenya, and has since lived in Nigeria, South Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan, where he currently teaches at the American University. His essay, “Total Darkness,” appears in the recently published (T)here: Writings on Returnings, a book of essays on reverse culture shock. He has had poems published in Salamander and Margie, where he was an Editor’s Prize finalist. He will attend the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference in 2014.
